Air Algerie flight with 116 people crashes over Africa: Reports
சற்று முன்பு மாயமானதாக சந்தேகிக்கப்பட்ட அல்ஜீரிய விமானம் விழுந்து ஓட்டிச் சென்ற விமானிகள் மற்றும் பணியாளர்கள் உட்பட 116 பேர் உயிரிழந்தனர். பர்கினா ஃபாசோவில் இருந்து புறப்பட்ட ஏ.எச்.5017 என்ற விமானம் நைஜரில் விழுந்து நொறுங்கியது. விமானம் நொறுங்கியதில் விமானிகள் 2 பேர், பணியாளர்கள் 4 பேர், பயணிகள் 110 பேர் பரிதாபமாக உயிரிழந்தனர். பர்கினா ஃபாசோவில் அவ்கடூகு நகரில் இருந்து புறப்பட்ட 50 நிமிடங்களில் விமான தொடர்பு துண்டிக்கப்பட்டது.
இது இந்த மாதத்தில் நடக்கும் 2வது பெரிய உயிரிழப்பு சம்பவம் ஆகும். நெதர்லாந்து தலைநகரில் இருந்து சென்ற மலேசிய விமானம் உக்ரைன் எல்லையில் கடந்த 17 ஆம் தேதி சுட்டு வீழ்த்தப்பட்டதில் 298 பேர் உயிரிழந்தனர். மலேசியாவுக்கு சொந்தமான மற்றொரு விமானம் தலைநகர் கோலாலம்பூரில் இருந்து பில்ஜிங் சென்ற போது மார்ச் 8 ஆம் தேதி மாயமானதும் குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது. மலேசிய விமானம் சுட்டு வீழ்த்தப்பட்டதன் பரபரப்பு அடங்குவதற்குள் அல்ஜீரியாவை சேர்ந்த மற்றொரு விமானம் திடீரென விபத்துக்குள்ளானது உலகம் முழுவதும் பெரும் அதிர்ச்சியை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளது.

An Air Algerie flight that had taken off from Burkina Faso’s capital Ouagadougou crashed on Thursday. As per the CCTV News the plane crashed in Niger. Air Traffic Controllers (ATC) lost contact with the plane at 0155 GMT, 50 minutes after it took to the skies at 0117 local time and was supposed to land in Algiers at 0510 local time but never reached its destination. Reports said that Flight AH5017 was operated by Spanish airline Swiftair for Air Algerie. The plane was a McDonnell Douglas MD83. Reports added that 110 passengers and 6 crew members were onboard the missing aircraft. The plane was headed to Algiers, capital of Algeria. Air Algerie is the national carrier of Algeria which flies the four-hour passenger route four times a week.. News agency AFP quoted a source in the airline saying that contact with the flight was lost while it was still in Malian airspace approaching the border with Algeria. “The plane was not far from the Algerian frontier when the crew was asked to make a detour because of poor visibility and to prevent the risk of collision with another aircraft on the Algiers-Bamako route,” the source said. “Contact was lost after the change of course.” Meanwhile, Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal was cited as saying by Algerian radio, “The plane disappeared at Gao (in Mali), 500 kilometres (300 miles) from the Algerian border. Several nationalities are among the victims,” PTI reported.
