வாஷிங்டன்: ஓராண்டுக்கும் மேலாக சிரியாவில் அதிபர் பஷார் அல் ஆசாத்துக்கு எதிராக உள்நாட்டு போர் நடந்து வருகிறது. ராணுவம் அரசுக்கு எதிராக போராடுபவர்கள் மீது தொடர்ந்து தாக்குதல் நடத்தி வருகிறது. லட்சக்கணக்கான மக்கள் இதில் பலியாகினர். டமாஸ்கஸ் புறநகர் பகுதியில் கடந்த மாதம் சிரிய ராணுவம் நடத்திய ரசாயன குண்டு தாக்குதலில் 1300க்கும் அதிகமான அப்பாவி பொதுமக்கள் பலியானதாக அமெரிக்கா குற்றம் சாட்டி வருகிறது. இதனையடுத்து அங்கு ஐநா பாதுகாப்பு அதிகாரிகள் சோதனை நடத்தினர்.
பிரதமர் டேவிட் கேமரூன் இங்கிலாந்து நாடாளுமன்றத்தில் கொண்டு வந்த தீர்மானம் தோல்வி அடைந்ததை தொடர்ந்து, சிரியா மீது போர் தொடுக்கும் திட்டத்தில் இருந்து இங்கிலாந்து பின்வாங்கியது. எனினும், சிரியா மீது ராணுவ தாக்குதல் நடத்த அமெரிக்காவுக்கு பிரான்ஸ் ஒத்துழைப்பு அளிக்கும் என அந்நாட்டு அதிபர் பிரான்கோயிஸ் ஹோலண்டே தெரிவித்துள்ளார். இதற்கிடையில் ராணுவ உயர் அதிகாரிகளுடன் ஒபாமா ஆலோசனை நடத்தினார். அப்போது ஒபாமா கூறுகையில், சிரியா மீது ராணுவ நடவடிக்கை அவசியமானது. ரசாயன தாக்குதலுக்கு எதிரான உலகத்தின் கடமையை நாம் நிறைவேற்ற வேண்டியுள்ளது. எந்த வகையான தாக்குதல் என்பது குறித்து இன்னும் முடிவு செய்யவில்லை. காங்கிரஸ் சபையின் ஒப்புதலையும் எதிர்பார்த்திருக்கிறோம் என்று தெரிவித்தார். பாதுகாப்பு ஆலோசகர் ஜான் கெர்ரி கூறுகையில், செப்டம்பர் 9ம் தேதிக்குள் தாக்குதல் நடத்த திட்டமிட்டுள்ளோம். நிச்சயமாக ஈராக், ஆப்கானிஸ்தானில் நடந்ததை போல அல்லாமல் வேறு வகையான தாக்குதல்கள் நடத்தப்படும் என்றார். பதற்றமான சூழ்நிலையில், இந்திய வெளியுறவு துறை செய்தி தொடர்பாளர் சையது அக்பருதீன் கூறுகையில், சிரியாவில் போர் மூளும் அபாயம் ஏற்பட்டுள்ளதால் இந்தியர்கள் யாரும் அந்த நாட்டுக்கு செல்ல வேண்டாம் என எச்சரிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளனர். சிரியாவில் இருக்கும் இந்தியர்கள் பாதுகாப்பாக உள்ளனர்.
மேற்கத்திய நாடுகள் ராணுவ தாக்குதல் நடத்தும் நிலை உள்ளதால் இந்தியர்கள் உடனடியாக வெளியேற வேண்டும் என வேண்டுகோள் விடப்பட்டுள்ளது. இந்தியர்களின் பாதுகாப்பு குறித்து அங்குள்ள தூதரகத்தோடு தொடர்ந்து பேச்சு வார்த்தை நடத்தி வருகிறோம் என்றார்.

The Ministry of External Affairs said that Embassy of India in Damascus was in contact with 25-30 Indian citizens currently living in Syria. “All Indian citizens (in Syria) are safe. Previously, we had advised all Indian citizens in Syria to return to India. They have once again been advised to leave Syria,” Syed Akbaruddin, official spokesperson of the MEA, said on Saturday, hours after US President Barack Obama said that Washington might consider “limited, narrow” military strikes action against Assad’s Government in the West Asian country. Akbaruddin added that the MEA’s earlier advisory for Indian nationals not to travel to Syria too continued to remain in effect. Syria has been torn apart by a civil war since March 2011 in the wake of uprisings against Assad’s Government. The Obama Administration has recently accused Assad’s Government of carrying out a chemical attack in the suburbs of Damascus on August 21 last, killing at least 1429 people, including over 400 children. New Delhi has scaled down diplomatic staff in the Embassy of India in Damascus ever since the civil war broke out. Charge d’Affaires S D Sharma, who heads the small team of diplomats in the Indian Embassy in Damascus, however, has not yet been asked to return to India. Diplomats’ families have returned to India several months back. India earlier said that if the media-reports on alleged use of chemical weapons were true, it was “a matter of grave concern”. New Delhi, however, is opposed to any external military intervention in Syria.
