High-Level Probe Ordered Into Wastage of 742 Eyes
ஜோத்பூர் மருத்துவமனை ஒன்றில் தானமாகப் பெறப்பட்ட 742 கண்கள் விரயமாக்கப் பட்டது குறித்து உயர்மட்ட விசாரணைக்கு உத்தரவிடப் பட்டுள்ளது. ராஜஸ்தான் மருத்துவமனை ஒன்றில் தானமாகப் பெறப்பட்ட 742 கண்கள் விரயமாக்கப் பட்டது தகவல் அறியும் உரிமைச் சட்டத்தின் மூலம் வெளிச்சத்திற்கு வந்துள்ளது.
ராஜஸ்தான் மாநிலம் ஜோத்பூரில் எஸ்.என். மருத்துவக் கல்லூரி மருத்துவமனை உள்ளது. அந்த மருத்துவமனையில் இயங்கி வரும் கண் வங்கியின் 17 வருடத் தகவல்களை வேண்டி தகவல் அறியும் உரிமைச் சட்டத்தின்கீழ் ஒரு நபர் விண்ணப்பித்திருந்தார்.
அதன்படி, கடந்த 1996 ஆம் ஆண்டு முதல் தானமாக பெற்ற மொத்த கண்கள் மற்றும் அதன் பயன்பாடுகள் குறித்து கல்லூரியில் இருந்து பெறப்பட்ட தகவல்களை தகவல் ஆணையம் அவருக்கு அனுப்பி வைத்தது. 1996 ஆம் ஆண்டு முதல் இதுவரையில் மருத்துவமனைக்கு 1805 கண்கள் தானம் செய்யப்பட்டதாகவும், அதில் 1063 கண்கள் பயன்படுத்தப்பட்டதாகவும், மீதமுள்ள 742 கண்கள் யாருக்கும் பொருத்தப்படவில்லை என்றும் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதாகத் தெரிய வந்தது பெரும் பரபரப்பை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளது. இதுதொடர்பாக, மாநில சுகாதாரத்துறை அமைச்சர் ராஜேந்திர ரத்தோர் தலைமையில் நடைபெற்ற ஆய்வுக் கூட்டத்தில்,
742 கண்களை வீணாக்கியதாக கூறப்படும் குற்றச்சாட்டு தொடர்பாக உயர்மட்ட விசாரணை நடத்த உத்தரவிடப் பட்டுள்ளது. மேலும், மொத்தம் உள்ள 7 கண் வங்கிகளிலும் ஆய்வு செய்து ஒரு வாரத்திற்குள் அறிக்கை சமர்ப்பிக்கவும் அமைச்சர் உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளார்.
கண் தானம் குறித்து மக்களுக்கு விழிப்புணர்வு அதிகமாகும் வேளையில், 742 கண்கள் வீணாக்கப்பட்டது பெரும் அதிர்ச்சியை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளது.
High-Level Probe Ordered Into Wastage of 742 Eyes
Rajasthan Health Minister Rajendra Rathore has ordered a high level inquiry into alleged wastage of 742 eyes donated to the S N Medical College of Jodhpur since 1996. Rathore gave the directions in a review meeting here yesterday. He also directed the officials to carry out inspection of all seven eye-banks and submit report in a week’s time. The committee comprises principal of college, Joint Director (Medical Jodhpur zone) and chief medial and health officer. The matter of the alleged wastage came to light through a reply to an RTI application filed by a resident of Jodhpur. Virendra Raj Mehta had sought information about the total eyes donated to the eye bank of the college since 1996. According to details provided by the college, 1,805 eyes had been donated to the college, of which 1,063 were used and rest 742 were not transplanted. Giving account of this difference, Assistant Principal of the College Narendra Chhangani said there was an absence of clarity on the issue. “We used over 90 per cent of eyes donated between 2006 to 2012 and those which could not be used, were not fit for use on account of the donors being infected with a disease,” he said.
